"El Arenques"
Bobby Q · 2026
This oil portrait is a captivating exercise in anthropomorphism, brimming with charisma, mystery, and humor. The work presents an ineffable feline with intense blue eyes, dominating the composition with an imperturbable and audacious demeanor. Dressed for the Cantabrian chill in a thick turtleneck sweater, a classic woolen sailor suit, and a matching wool hat, the character is complemented by a brilliant touch of visual irony: the silhouette of a blue fish peeking from its mouth. Here, the artist plays with the solemnity of classical portraiture and the fantasy of Pop Art, creating a fictional character that immediately captures the viewer's attention, filling the space with magnetism and sparking conversation.
